Customized and Kitbashed Figures

Customized Pirate

7/1/2000

Title: Customized Pirate
Year: 2000
How got in collection: Various sources
Notes:
This figure came about when I saw a custom version of it on eBay.  I really liked the figure a lot, but couldn't really afford the $70+ it went for!  So, I came up with my own version.  The twist I added is the peg leg (the eBay version had a hand sculpted head but no peg leg.)

The figure is a 21st Century Sam body with the right leg removed.  The head is the Gung Ho Dress Marine head.  The eye patch is hand made (a piece of leather cut in an oval with a leather strap attached.)  The clothes are from several different Formative soldiers of the world figures (the jacket is form their George Washington as is the shirt, the vest is from their Benjamin Franklin, the pants are cut up Formative George Washington pants.)  The sock and shoe are from their George Washington set.

See the Custom Projects for more information on this figure.

Indiana Jones

1/1/2000

Title: Custom Indiana Jones figure
Year: 1999
How got in collection: Various sources
Notes: This figure took several months to put together, but it was well worth it!  The hat is hand-modified, the whip is hand-made, the holster is hand-modified.  The pants are form the Universal Monsters Wolfman figure, the shirt is from the Tuskeegee Bomber Pilot as is the leather jacket.  The holster belt is from one of the SLU Cooperstown figures.  The satchel (not visible in this picture) is from the Formative General Lee figure.  The boots are from the Hasbro USAAF Korean Pilot set, the socks are from 21st Century, and the revolver is a vintage Hasbro Lebel revolver.

Custom "Starship Troopers" figure

10/1/99

Title: Custom Starship Trooper figure
Year: 1999
How got in collection: Various sources
Notes: I really enjoyed the movie "Starship Troopers" (based on the book by the same name written by Robert A. Heinelen).  I really liked the outfits the Troopers wore. So, I figured "Why not."  This figure has had a fair amount of work put into it.  The figure is a 21st Century Toys figure.  The boots are from an Action Man Dr. X figure.  The pants are from the Formative INternational Soldiers of the World Korean War infantry soldier.  The sirt is a 21st Century Rangers shirt (from the carded Ranger figure.)  The gloves are 21st Century Toys black gloves.  The gun is from the Kenner Aliens Hicks figure as is the vest.  I cut up the vest and then painted it.  The helmet is from a Sunny Smile tank commander. The radio mike on the helmet is a nail bent and then placed into a hole in the helmet.  The helmet has been painted also. The gun sling is handmade.  The hand grenades are 21st Century Toys smoke grenades with the tops painted red.

This figure represents the Troopers as they appeared in their warm weather gear. I have plans to produce a cold weather variant with the nuclear missle launcher used in the movie.

Blain from "Predator"

9/15/99

Title: Blain from "Predator"
Year: 1999
How got in collection: Various sources
Notes: This figure is of the Blain character (played by Jesse Ventura) who appeared in the Arnold Schwarzenaeger movie "Predator".  The body of the figure is 21st Century Toys figure.  The head is a Hasbro Hall Of Fame Gung Ho figure head.  The uniform, boots, hat (I glued the side up using Fabri-Tac available from 21st Century Toys), MP-5, belt, harness, knife, and grenades are from 21st Century Toys Vietnam and MOdern outfits. The black shirt is from a Sunny Smile figure.  The mini-gun is from the MacFarlane Toys Heavy Metal Vulcan Raven figure.  This was one of my most enjoyable figures to make - "Predator" is one of my favorite movies and it was a lot of fun to model a figure from the movie.

Reese from "Terminator"

9/15/99

Title:  Custom Reese figure from  the movie "Terminator"
Year: 1999

Notes: This is the Reese character (played by Michael Biehn) from the movie "Terminator".  The body is a 21st Century Sam figure.  The head is the Hicks head from the movie "Aliens" figure package Kenner put out a few years ago (Hicks was also played by Michael Biehn).  The shirt is a Hasbro shirt from one of the carded pin head figures.  The pants are an old beat-up pair of original Hasbro pants (remember, the Reese character got his clothes from a how boe in an alley), the trench coat is an original Adventure Team spy coat I got off eBay.  The shot gun is from 21st Century Toys.  The shoes (remember, the Reese character steals these from a department store) are from the 21st Century Modern Navy Seal set.
