History

This set showcases GI Joe from the past to the present.

The figure on the left is a 40th Anniversary figure.  The figure on the right is the GI Joe Collector club
transparent 40th Anniversary figure.  I felt it really went along with the patent very nicely.

The patent I bought from a company that sells on eBay (they actually give you two copies of
this page plus the text portion of the patent.  Very interesting reading!

The dogtag is an original GI Joe Collectors club dogtag from the 1960s.

The glass-front case is from Michael's Arts and Crafts - stained a nice deep maple color.  The backing
is a piece of green felt glued to the case.  The figures are held on with transparent twisty ties.

Then and Now
In The Field

This set of figures represents the evolution of the original GI Joe figure from the 1960s
to the present. The uniforms are all reproductions - Masterpiece Edition, Timeless Collection, 40th Anniversary, and Cotswold.  Below is each figure broken out in more detail.  Under each figure is a repro of the sticker on the figure's box.

Sailor

This is a Vintage 1960s figure with Cotswold repro hands.

The outfit is all 40th Anniversary and Timeless collection save for the helmet.  This is Cotswold.

Notice the cloth hat - this is a VERY nice touch that Hasbro started to include the cloth hats in the later sets.

Marine

This is the Masterpiece figure (I did not like orange lips and scar and beady little black eyes) with a Timeless uniform (I do NOT like the 40th Marine uniforms - they really do not look very much like the vintage Marine uniforms.)

The first aid pouch is a vintage first aid pouch.

The Helmet is a Cotswold helmet.

Again, notice the cloth hat.

Pilot

This is the Timeless Collection figure.

The suit is 40th Anniversary (I did not like the Timeless scramble uniform - poor color.)  The rest is 40th Anniversary and Timeless collection.

Notice the cloth hat. I actually had this hat before they were available in the states - I was able to get some 40th prototypes from Hong Kong.

Soldier

The field jacket and the first aid kit are vintage - the rest is all Timeless Collection and 40th Anniversary.

The helmet is 40th Anniversary - one of the few helmets Hasbro actually included in the sets!

LEFT: This is the box and paperwork for the soldier. The boxes for the marine, pilot, and sailor are kited out the same.  They are inside of a Cotswold display box.
The catalog on top is a vintage catalog.  The "Join the G.I. Joe Club" pamphlet is a double-sided repro of the original "Join the G.I. Joe Club" brochure. The Boot Removal instruction sheet is a repro. The FM75 manual is a repro from the 40th Anniversary collection.  The actual repro box is from the 30th Anniversary set - NOT the 40th Anniversary set.  I tend to like the boxes from the 30th more than the boxes from the 40th.

RIGHT: This is the soldier in his box.  He basically keeps the paperwork upright by leaning back against it.  You can also see the twin hats - the plastic and the cloth.
